Kodoma Ryunosuke sat on a bench in a large bar. The Russians around him glared and spat at his feet.A bell rang and a man fell down in the center of a group of tables. His face was bloody and swollen. Two other men walked up with a stretcher and gave the man a shot of whiskey. Then they carried him away. The victor of the fight looked around and spoke in a heavy Russian accent. "Who would like to come aganst me next, eh? Maybe raise the stakes?" Ryunosuke stood up and finished his glass of vodka. He was Japanese, but no accent. His father was a tourist in Japan on a business trip, and met his mother. So Ryu was half American, half Japanese. "I will fight," he said. He jumped over the tables that made up the fighting ring and removed his jacket. His red gee had a flame stitched in it on the chest. Slowly, he took a fighting stance and waited for the burly drunk to charge at him. As the bearded Russian charged, Ryu stepped to the side and lifted the heavy man above his head. Throwing him down, he twisted the arm behind the mans back. As he heard the crack of bone, a bald Japanese monk walked in, bearing a large scroll. The monk seemed to be looking at him. Ryu let go of the screaming man and walked over. The scroll was put into his hands and he opened it. He bowed to the monk after and walked outside, away from the bar. "Japan, here I come."

Ryu was on the coast of China, a large dock behind him as he talked to the ticket holder. "One ticket to Japan, please." The ticketman nodded. "Here you go." Ryu handed the man a handful of money. "Thank you, keep the change." He walked to the big passenger boat on the water. ~ Later that night, the boat was halfway to its destination. Ryu was in his cabin, sitting at a desk reading a book. Flipping the page, he caught a glimpse of his tatoo on his upper arm. Looking in the mirror it showed the Japanese sign for fire. That is where he got the idea for the design on his gee. He had had that tatoo since his birth, which his mother soon died after. His father had died on the trip home from the hospital. They had lived in New York and he was forced to move in with his uncle and aunt. The Bronx was a hard place to grow up, and that's where Ryu learned to fight. Not wanting to be a bully, he had practiced defencive fighting. At sixteen, three years previous, his uncle and aunt kicked him out, where he had met an elderly man who had shown him the way of shotokan karate. He had only known that man by the name of Sensei.

"Ahh, Karaoke night."
Kumiko sighed in contentment as she flipped her hair out of her face. She, Leiko, and her foster sister Ame were performing tonight, same as as every friday. She wipped her hands on the black leather pants she wore. She had a sparkling gold top, backless except for the ties. Hey, sex appeal sells, that's why they did the entire floor show.
They were announced, rushing out the three girls ran on stage followed by the guitarists. Ame did drums and when they were needed Leiko did, well everything else. The lead singer went to Kumiko, not only for her voice but her dancing. I shall state it again, sex appeal sells.
"Emperor's Kiss - The lovely ladies Adade Leiko - san, Raidon Ame - san, and last, but not least, the talented voice of Raidon Kumiko - san! Do they have a treat for us tonight! Their new song 'Tooi Kono Machi de'!" The announcer left the stage letting the group begin.
The piano and drum played the intro as Kumiko stepped out of the shadows.
//daisuki datta ano uta furui teepu no naka chiisana kizu iro aseta taitoru nijinda yoake //
Kumiko stepped out before the crowd a soft smile played on her face.
//soshite mata kyou ga kuru natsu no kaze o tsurete narete yuku hibi no katasumi de futo kodoku ni deau//
she stopped to close her eyes and tipped her eyes to roof, before facing the audiance again.
//jitensha de doko made mo kaze o keru hayasa wasurenai//
Turn, and the routine began.
//lalalala utaou sora o miagete lalalala It's my life aruite yukou watashi no chikara de susumu hate shinai kono michi o//
//ikutsumo no kousaten itsumo mayou kedo nagasare tari oikosare tari shite ima o ikiteru//
//butsu karu koto mitomeru koto otona ni natte mo wasurenai//
//lalalala utaou sora o miagete lalalala It's my life aruite yukou watashi dake no mono dakara jishin matte ii yo ne//
//umareta machi de yumemite kita kujikeru tabi ni omoidasu ano uta no you ni ima dekiru koto wa sukoshi demo mae ni fumi dasu koto//
//lalalala utaou sora o miagete lalalala It's my life aruite yukou lalalala utaou sora o miagete lalalala It's my life aruite yukou watashi no chikara de susumu //
//lalalala utaou sora o miagete lalalala It's my life aruite yukou watashi no chikara de susumu hate shinai kono michi o//
Lights dimmed as they stepped off the stage, allowing the next group to perform. The three girls laughed in their dressing room. A groups of guys had tried to bar their exit, begging dates and the such, but anyone could see they just wanted to add another notch to their bedposts. "He was like 'Babe, you know what your heart wants.' and leaned forward trying to act cool. It's like OH MY GOD!!"
Kumiko laughed as he sister told them about on of the more determined suitors. She noticed a small envelope on Leiko's stand. It was worn paper, kinda odd looking. Pulling it from the mirrors brim she opened it. Checking out eachothers mail was nothing new for the trio, so she had no remorse for her actions.
What it said shocked her, even scared her a bit.
Adade Leiko - sama, We request your participation in the Warrior's Tournament. It is in the meditation chamber of the Kamakura Shrine. Your talent with the chain hook is famous. We would be honored with your presance.
Ok, creepy much. She glanced at Leiko. Fighter? Miss 'Don't Touch The Trees!' No. Way. Kamakura... that's only a few miles out of Tokyo. Near...
She swallowed hard. It was near her parents crash site. Nine years... had it really been that long? She was seventeen now, so it had. Well they were due for a visit, might as well visit this shrine place while she was at it.
"Night Leiko, Anee."

Ryu was snapped from his memories by his door slamming open. Three masked men walked in, wearing all black with their faces covered. As the assumed fighting position, Ryu could see tatoos covering their hands, which seemed as if they were made of fire. A deep voice echoed through the room. "Come and fight Kodoma Ryunosuke. We will see how well you fight." Ryu stood and stood in a square stance. "Gimme your best shot."

She tapped her fingers nervously on the steering wheel. She had left a note to her foster parents saying where she went. all was smooth riding, but that would come to a complete stop if a cop pulled her over. One, she wasn't twenty yet, and two, she didn't even have a learner's permit.
Two thousand buck just to drive was alotta money, which could easily be saved by the simple rule of don't let them catch you.
Hours went on and she even heard her song on the radio as they played hometown music. Still nothing could calm her heart as she neared the tramatizing area. She slowed as the exit neared. Finally the vehicle stopped before a set of crosses at the side of the road.
She knelt, uttering a small prayer before bowing. The flowers in her hand floated to the gound as her hand released the roses. White petals landed gently and the hard ground.
Slipping back into the car, Kumiko pulled her map ou tot insure the temple was on this same exit. It was a disheveled building, standing only a floor tall. The ancient steps were luckily carved into stone. As she stood in the enterance, he fingers wandered to the paper in her pocket.
People were streching everywhere. The temple was packed. Several fights were already in session. One of them had a glaive vs a vicious looking blade. It seemed made out of flaming steel. Suddenly the swords owner was decapitated by a single stroke. The glaive was dropped as the hand that held it slipped to their impaled stomach.
She began shaking. No one seemed to care what had just happened. She was right. No way on earth had Leiko been involved with this. Time take her leave. But as she tried the door knob, panic set in.
It wouldn't open.

One of the men jumped forward and grabbed Ryu's wrist. He felt a sharp burn run through his arm, and he yelled and threw the masked man away. Slowly they all advanced and surrounded him. Each of them took long swords from thin air, and after saying a strange incantation under their breath, they lit in fire. "Damn." Ryu spun to the side as one charged at him. Another ran up and Ryu quickly tripped him. The sword flew from the man's hand and stuck in the wall, which caught on fire. After a few minutes of sparring, the entire boat was engulfed in flame. Ryu ran to the door and kicked it down. He ran to the bow of the boat and saw the lights of Japan looking from over the sea. He took a second look and saw that they were no more than two hundred feet from the shore, still traveling at full speed. The ship hit the docks and Ryu was thrown off the side of the boat. Grabbing ahold of a rope, Ryu slid down, his hands creating friction between the cord. He landed on the dock and turned to look at the boat. As he turned his face upward, he saw the shadowy figures jump off and come towards him. Ryu turned and ran down the dock. He hailed a taxi and told him the way to go to get to the temple. He looked out the back window after the taxi started moving. The three men walked out into the road and looked after the retreating car.
